3000 Heavens
Sampanbok, literally '3000 holes' in Thai, is in the easternmost province of Thailand, right across the mighty Mekong river from Laos. Known to those from other parts of Thailand as a hot, dry land, the area is in fact rich in both natural beauty and the human warmth of its native people, the Isaan. In 3000 Heavens, a teacher born and raised in the area tells us a simple story of Sampanbok, and the importance of the Mekong river to the Isaan people.
